ElderGuardian - Integrated Sensor Technologies for Fall Prevention and Socioeconomic Empowerment in Care Environments for.
Common territorial challenges that will be tackled by the project
Both Lithuania and Latvia are facing the growing share of senior population and associated challenges in ensuring social care and a safer environment for the seniors. One of the major health risks for this vulnerable group is high occurrence of falls leading to injuries, causing need for surgeries and rehabilitation.
Project objective
The project aims to significantly enhance senior care by integrating an advanced sensor-based fall detection system in the Klaipėda region, Lithuania, and in the Kurzeme region, Latvia, and in this way to reduce fall incidents. This will enhance the safety, autonomy, well-being, quality of life for seniors and empower vulnerable community through advanced sensor technology.
Planned activities
The project partners will develop and pilot an advanced sensor-based system for fall detection in social care centres. The system will be built into areas, where fall incidents are most likely to occur, such as bedrooms, bathrooms, and common areas. It integrates real-time fall detection with immediate response mechanisms. Trainings on how to use the new sensor-based technology will be organised for healthcare professionals and caregivers. Cross-border cooperation within this project will ensure the pooling of resources, foster innovation and facilitate the sharing of knowledge and care practices across the region. By bringing together professionals from healthcare, social service and technology sectors of both countries, the project will ensure more efficient, safe, inclusive and technologically advanced care management for seniors.
