According to Mindaugas Kozinecas, the director of UAB "VMG Lignum", for over a decade now, there have been no timber industry technologists trained in Lithuania, which is currently in high demand. Although the development of new study programs would take several years, it was agreed that KU would explore the specificity of a possible solution by supplementing the existing study program with a specialization, for example, by expanding the mechanical engineering study program. Specialists from these study programs are also trained in English, making it one of the most popular international study programs at KU. Potentially in the future, this program may have a new specialization.
Other areas where we also see potential for partnership include the preparation of bachelor's theses for VMG Group companies on relevant topics, support for postdoctoral interns, joint activities at the KU Methodological STEAM Center in Klaipėda, visits and lectures by KU students and lecturers at the industrial innovation park, and other activities.
