Contribute to the sustainability of the planet
We are proud of the fact that we prepare Bachelors of LIFE sciences. Without depreciating other professions, we still think that it is noble and meaningful education that enables the graduate not only find an interesting and well-paid job, but also feel like contributing to the sustainability and nurturing of the Earth, the planet of people.
Biology manually
Our studies are especially close to the research object, which you will touch in the laboratories – whether it is a molecule of a microbe, or a menu of wintering birds. You may have to get into water yourself while analyzing the habitats of the seabed or the behaviour of marine mammals. You will gain both theory and practice from the specialists of the field.
It is the best place for studies
The scientists who lecture here are among the youngest at the university; we have a wonderful academic community here. Also we have the most modern study and research equipment. We are open to the most progressive experiences and we prepare our students in such a way that they could select their jobs both in Lithuania and worldwide.
Colleagues from the first day
Our profession is “unitary”, every student obtains special attention. We work together in expeditions and laboratories and a student is regarded as a colleague by the senior scientists from the first day of his/her studies. Excellent foreign scientists delivering lectures here will provide a student the experience of European studies.
Research on marine ecosystems
We are most interested in the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon, as it is our home. But the Ocean is one, therefore our lecturers work from the Arctic to the Antarctic. Sometimes you need to learn how to cope with seasickness, pilot a drone or dive underwater. We – lecturers and students – visited places from tropics to glaciers, looked at the sea through a microscope and from the space.
Practical skills
While studying biology and marine biotechnology you will gain valuable practical skills and special, social, and personal competences, which will assist you in the pursuit of your further life goals. Three years in the laboratory is a solid practical preparation to work in a wide range of areas.
